Fellow Hikers,

Due to the condition of the access road to the Gregory Bald trail head, Wes McNeal has decided to change the hike to Lumber Ridge.

This hike is 8.2 miles round trip (4.1 miles each way) with an elevation climb of 1,600 ft. It is rated as Moderate to Strenuous.

The trail head is at the Tremont Institute which is about an hour drive from Tellico Village. Take Rt. 321 towards Maryville & Townsend. Do not turn left at the light in Townsend, but rather continue to the Y (Gatlinburg to the left and Cades Cove to the right). Bear right heading towards Cades Cove and proceed to the sign for the Tremont Institute.
