The Bald River Falls Trail is located near Tellico Plains in the Cherokee National Forest. It is a favorite spot for tourists because the falls can be seen from the road. Hikers from Tellico Village will often also stop at the bakery in Tellico Plains for a snack after the hike. The first few hundred yards is steep and uphill. After that the trail continues to climb but at a more gentle space. The beautiful mountain stream can be seen along the whole hike. The trail can be as long as 10 miles in and out but we usually hike less than that and turn back earlier.
